This time Helena Coelho and Paula Koops present their perspectives about the Environmental Impact Assessment in 2022.
Paula and Helena both agree that there are still different approaches between Europe and Latin America regarding EIA procedures and, if in one hand, in Europe we now are talking about assessing impacts on wildlife populations and its technical challenges in Latin America we still discuss a species list and the effects of a project on an overall faunal group.
Helena Coelho also highlighted the challenges in the European Union of reconciling the timings that are expected by the Renewable Energy Directive and EIA Directive regarding the EIA procedures.
Paula also pointed that social component in EIA process in Brazil is extremely important and, in 2022, with Brazilian elections, developers, consultants and authorities, more than ever, shall ensure a focused and clear communication.
